Kiara Kaur 5-year-old Indian-American girl has becomed the world’s youngest TEDx speaker
5-year-old Indian-American girl Kiara Kaur has become the world’s youngest TEDx speaker. The “child prodigy” was recognized by the World Book of Records in London after addressing a TEDx meet organized by a body in Maharashtra on November 14, Children’s Day.
Earlier in February, Kiara had set a world record for reading 36 books non-stop for 105 minutes.
“I am very excited to be the youngest TED speaker,” Kiara told NDTV.
Gaurav Ghewde, who organized the Rankala Lake event COMMA, said, “Kiara drew applause. She inspired the audience with her story. Even other speakers praised her.”
A passionate readership who has read over two thousand books, is also all set to release her first book “Dairy of a 5 Year-Old Genius Chatterbox Who Set World Records”.
“The book describes their journey in her own words,” said her mother, Dr. Little Mahendra, who is the dean of a dental college. “It took seven months and I just typed as he shared,” she said.
On her love of speaking, the little girl said, “I have a lot to share. People call me a talking machine and a gubby”.
However, Kiara is yet to decide what she would like to do in her life. “Sometimes I want to be a doctor to treat people, and sometimes I want to be a leader to help the needy,” said the five-year-old.
After waiting for five years, US-born Kiara is currently in Abu Dhabi where her doctor parents are settled. “She is therefore very special to us and I like to spend more and more time with her,” said her father, Dr Ravi MJ, an orthopedic surgeon.
Her mother said that Kiara’s grandfather Lt Col MP Singh nurtured her interest in reading.
Kiara is also studying French and Spanish with a love of languages.
Howard Berg, considered to be the fastest reader who has been helping Kiara maximize her “natural learning ability”, said, “I expect great things from Kiara as she grows up”.
Her mother said, “We support her in all her endeavors only so that she loves doing what she does.”
